GrüVe 2010 - Der Weintisch

Gruener Veltliner 2010 - "The Wine Table".

The latest Gruener Veltliner presents itself as a crisply refreshing classical Austrian wine. This audacious Gruener Veltliner by Jurtschitsch Estate in Langenlois (Kamptal) is now coming onto the market in its 24th year (!). The fact that it is by now an Evergreen can be seen also from the brash pea-green label, that has been created (as since 1986) by Professor Christian Ludwig Attersee.
'The 2010 year proved to be a great challenge for the vintners', says Edwin Jurtschitsch, 'because of the cool, wet weather. Our vineyard team is however extremely experienced and has learned to 'read' the vines. This enabled very good quality to be harvested, and we are extremely satisfied'.

The professionals at Jurtschitsch are particularly delighted with the stylistics: 'After all this time, we finally have classical Austrian wines again in the cellar. These are typical of the estates on the north bank of the Danube, with their audacious freshness and cool fruit, and represent an unique characteristic of those vineyards'.

This corresponds precisely with natural trends. More and more white wine is being consumed on the international wine markets - more and more freshness and lightness is being demanded.

Light-heartedly Austrian.
This Gruener Veltliner is the lightest of all the Jurtschitsch Estate wines. With its light-hearted spicy aromatics, freshening acidity, alcohol lightness and yet still full on the palate, this Gruener Veltliner has gathered fans from all over the world.

The annually changing label from Professor Christian Ludwig Attersee is an indispensable part of the success story. The painting which decorates this year's label is called the 'Weintisch' - 'Wine Table'. No doubt the green painted 'Heurigen' table will be recognised, standing in the shade of a large tree and providing the best place for lingering, resting, looking around and just enjoying.

The Gruener Veltliner 2010 also turns out to be a wonderful aperitif, a gorgeous refreshment on a hot summers day, a pick-you-up after strenuous activities and a savoury accompaniment to poultry and salads, smoked delicacies and pasta.

The Gruener Veltliner is available from the middle of December. To obtain wine-tasting samples for editorial purposes, please contact f.zimmer@wine-partners.at

Jurtschitsch’s GrüVe 2009 sticht in See

The Jurtschitsch’s GrueVe 2009 puts to sea.

It is well known, that the GrueVe is an unmatched classic among the fresh, sparkling Veltliner Wines. Year for year, the "Evergreen" from the Jurtschitsch Family Estate is awaited with great trepidation.

The "Wine Jolly-Boat" on the lake is the signet this year for our GrueVe.
The signature of the Artist bottom right of the label can also be deemed the picture title. Professor Christian Ludwig Attersee has depicted for the GrueVe 2009 a gleaming blue lake in which the warm evening sun is mirrored, and a sailing boat is pitching on it. The sailing enthusiast Artist has entitled the work, the "Wine Jolly-Boat".

The wine in the bottle is just as gleaming as (Atter)see’s seascape on the label: pure in fragrance, precise in the fruit, refreshing on the pallet and equipped with a touch of mature warmth - just like the mild evening sunshine.

Wine Impressions.
It is important for the Jurtschitsch Family, that the GrueVe Wine is no fast manufactured young wine product, but is a maturely harvested Gruener Veltliner, in spite of its unbelievable lightness at 11.5% alcohol content, displaying deep fruit and development potential. This makes the GrueVe Wine into a strong and reliable brand, which wine connoisseurs gladly select. Not surprising, that the Vintage 2009 is already the 23rd annual vintage of this Evergreen.

The "Jolly-Boat" is a symbol for an unsinkable ship, and is a further play on words, which wonderfully interprets the GrueVe Wine and its success.

The Vintage 2009.
The 2009 Vintage cost the vintners much patience, industriousness and comprehension. It is mostly in Autumn, shortly before harvest time, that nature presents vintners with great challenges in the form of ongoing humid and warm weather. It can be quickly appreciated from the state of the vineyards, what the vintners had undertaken in Summer with efficient defoliating work and production restrictions, as low crop and ventilation produce healthy harvests. Thick growth on the vines can have fatal putrefaction consequences.

"We are extremely happy with our wines for the vintage 2009" says Edwin Jurtschitsch gladly. "This year, consistent and intensive culturing in our vineyards has more than paid for itself. That is also an encouragement for all out staff, who have made great efforts in the correct culturing of our vines".

The GrueVe Wine is the first of the vintage to come to market at the beginning of December, and is a wonderful display of how well the Jurtschitsch Family has succeeded with the 2009 Vintage.
