The family estate Jurtschitsch presents its 19th GrüVe® - in Linz.
"Grüve - Smile" - that's how Christian Ludwig Attersee subtitled his painting to be seen on this year's GrüVe®. The artist`s personal interpretation of the GrüVe® 2005 displays light but still warm shades of yellow representing its fruitiness. It seems as if the lighthearted wine wants to leap from its goblet and allows the epicure a cheerfully placid moment of hedonism.

The Innovative Glas Stopper
Glas substituting cork
After very careful research and numerous comparing tastings we have decided to stopper our Grüner Veltliner Steinhaus with the innovative glass stopper "Vinolok" this year. Thus we can offer you an exceedingly satisfactory alternative to the natural cork stopper. A thin sealing ring around the glass stopper helps the stopper to joint a perfectly matching cut in the bottleneck, so that the wine only gets in contact with the synthetic material on a very slight surface area.

of the Old World at the Decanter Fine Wine Encounter

The Zöbinger Heiligenstein at its best
The Riesling Reserve 2002 has arrived!
From a selection of the best Riesling berries we could vinify an extraordinary wine last year, which is now ready for sale. The berries for the Riesling Reserve 2002 from the Zöbinger Heiligenstein were selectively picked by hand not until November 2002 - the amazing thing about it: The berries reached their high level of ripeness almost botrytis-free and therefore this Riesling convinces by its gorgeously clear Riesling character, its complex mineral undertones and the firm texture.

Vintage completed with a TBA from the Heiligenstein
We started our vintage full of verve fairly early this season. At the beginning we had to struggle with the rather hot outside temperature. However the temperature kept falling, especially during the nights, which caused the berry skins to grow thicker and the fruits to reach their distinctive flavours, which are highly essential for our Grüner Veltliner and Riesling.
Predictions about the trend 2003 can already be made, judging from the quality of the grapes and the semi-fermented rough diamants:

1936er Riesling-Sekt tasting with rare-wine specialist Jan-Erik Paulson
On 30 July we happily received the rare wine merchant Mr Paulson from Germany.
In this occasion we tasted a great variety of mature Grüner Veltliner and Riesling specialities from the library of the 700 year old cellar. One of the outstanding treasures that were tasted has been the Riesling-Sekt from 1936. The 1936 Riesling-Sekt was produced by Karl, Edwin and Paul's grandfather, following the traditional method champanoise and his explorations in the Champagne cellars of Reims and Epernay in France. The great Sekt presented itself in a dark straw yellow shape, amazingly fresh & cremy and demonstrated a vivid Mousseux.

Jurtschitsch scores all around the world
Honourings in London, New York and Vienna
Gold in London
At this years London Wine Fair the English Wine Magazine organized the meanwhile traditional London Wine Challenge, to which more than 9400 wines from all over the world were submitted and judged by an international jury. As the only dry Austrian white wine, our Grüner Veltliner Alte Reben 2002 was priced with the rare golden medal!
Grand Cru winner in Vienna
The Austrian gourmet magazine A la Carte lead through the traditional Grand Cru-competition. This year the testers tried white wines that have been cultivated in a young woodenbarrel (barrique). Though the main part of the competition was provided by the chardonnays, the Veltliner managed to catch on (like already at the big international Chardonnay-tasting that were shortly held in Vienna, Tokyo and London).
The Grüner Veltliner Spiegel Reserve 2001 was elected as Grand Cru winner with 93 points (out of 100):
somehow outside of the rivalry but an exemplary barrique white wine
Top Rating in New York
The Wine Spectator, the influential American wine magazine, dealt in its issue from April 30th with the best Austrian wines. Our Riesling Zöbinger Heiligenstein 2001 achieved with a score of 90 points the highest Kamptal-rating.
