Weingut Jurtschitsch Sonnhof – a brilliant Year 2006

“A name guarantees quality….only a few wineries achieve to produce on a broad base top quality….” writes the Austrian Guide Gault Millau 2007. Brothers Edwin, Karl and Paul Jurtschitsch secured yet again in 2006 their place in the top league of quality wine makers.

One of the “10 Great Wines of Austria” in Guide Gault Millau 2007

The Grüner Veltliner Spiegel Reserve 2005 was honoured with 19 out of 20 points by Austria´s Gault Millau 2007 guide. This high - and rare – score is represented in the guide by a “three grapes” symbol – which means that the Jurtschitsch winery has produced one of the "10 great wines of Austria" from the 2006 vintage. The grapes for this wine, which grew in the southerly-exposed Spiegel vineyard in the Kamptal wine growing area, took place at the beginning of November. The Spiegel´s terroir has helped yield a multi-layered, elegant Veltliner with highly concentrated aromas.

The Highest Sweet Wine Rating in the Falstaff Wine Guide 2006 / 2007

"A wine for generations, with a gigantic future", is how the Falstaff Guide 2006 / 2007 describes the Jurtschitsch winery´s Grüner Veltliner Trockenbeerenauslese (TBA) Loiserberg 2004. With 97 out of 100 points, it is the highest-ranked sweet wine in the Guide, which waxes lyrical about this gem: This glimmering, light yellow-gold liquid shows off a lusciously ripe bouquet. Fine nut & honey notes in the nose, and a sensational fruit-acidity combination on the palate, complete this wine - while demonstrating the kind of great sweet wines that are being created by this house under good conditions.

Trophy Champion at the AWC Vienna, International Wine Challenge 2006

After their master tasting, the jury of the International Wine Challenge awarded the championship trophy for the Sauvignon Blanc varietal category to the Jurtschitsch brothers´ Sauvignon Blanc Fahnberg 2005. With Sauvignon Blancs from more than ten countries competing in the category, this trophy is certainly a distinguished one. The Jurtschitsch Sauvignon Blanc Fahnberg 2005 won over the noses and palates of wine critics with its fine minerality, superb varietal aromas and the diversity of its beautiful fruit expression.
