The Anniversary GrüVe 2006

A 20-Year-Old Success Story

GrueVe 2005

Twenty years ago, the Jurtschitsch family in the town of Langenlois (situated in the Kamptal wine growing area, in the state of Lower Austria) gave a name to their lightest, sprite and tangy Grüner Veltliner. They called it “GrüVe”. Also at that time, the internationally-known artist Christian Ludwig Attersee created an entertaining label - featuring a mouse - for the GrüVe bottle. At first, the name on the label drew somewhat cynical smiles. But with the name grew a success story; a story that is being celebrated around the world - even in the Caribbean.

Fashionable once again

GrüVe means Grüner Veltliner, the most important grape variety in the Kamptal.

While most of the typical light-styled wines created in the 1980s no longer exist, GrüVe found new fans and won new markets - year after year. And it continues to do so. One reason for this success is that, even with its light body, the GrüVe offers spicy aromas and plenty of flavour. And its elegant and refreshing style comes from its climate of origin – now called "cool climate viticulture". This style is envied, pursued and even celebrated by winemakers all over the world, especially now that the trend of producing thick and heavy white wines has passed.

This light, fresh style is found right here in the Kamptal. Year after year.

Anniversary Vintage 2006

During its 20th year, the GrüVe experienced some tense periods: a very cool spring; extreme heat in July; substantial rainfall in August – very up and down conditions. But a sunny September made everything right again. Therefore, the GrüVe 2006 shines not only because of its golden label design (Christian Ludwig Attersee likes to refer to the label as "GrüVe-Gold"), but also because of the wine´s personality in the glass - with cool fruit, spicy aroma, light and wispy body and refreshing finish. All of which demand another sip!
