Five dry terroir wines with lots of Kamptal mineralics and spice
Our family run wine estate steeped in tradition cultivates the finest vineyards all around Langenlois. The deferential work in harmony with nature, the maintenance of its terroir variety and the preservation of the Kamptal cultural landscape have top-priority.
Also in the cellar work there is a high, historically significant responsibility upon us. Already centuries ago the Franciscans pressed their wines in the same cool cellars where we are absorbing the peacefulness of the past today and count on the naturalness of the wines by controlled "idleness".
The five dry premium wines, Grüner Veltliner Schenkenbichl 2007, Riesling Zöbinger Heiligenstein Alte Reben 2007, Grüner Veltliner Käferberg 2007, as well as the red wines Zweigelt Tanzer Reserve 2006 and Pinot Noir Reserve 2006 are each fermented with yeasts from the vineyards and are matured in oaken barrels from the local Mannhartsberg.
The highly diversified Kamptal distinguishes itself by a high variety of rock deposits, the winds of the Waldviertel add the spice to the wines.
Grüner Veltliner Schenkenbichl 2007
The aromatic curve of the golden grapes of the highly awarded Grüner Veltliner Schenkenbichl reaches from gneiss minerality to loess complexity. A wine rich in essence with awesome mineralics which guarantees many years of pleasure.
Grüner Veltliner Käferberg 2007
Just a short walk away from the Schenkenbichl up the hill, gneiss meets amphibolit on the Käferberg. The Grüne Veltliner Käferberg lives on its crystalline minerality and the Kamptal coolness. The limited amount of wine of just 2000 bottles makes the wine a much desired rarity.
Riesling Zöbinger Heiligenstein Alte Reben 2007
In the Riesling Zöbinger Heiligenstein Alte Reben one can feel the powerful work of the roots which deeply dig into the conglomerate of the desert sandstone and pump minerals from the longest past into the grapes. Yellow meatiness and white vineyard peach in balance with infinite Heiligenstein minerality. This is how this Riesling presents itself.
Pinot Noir Reserve 2006
On the high plateau above Langenlois the Pannonian wind meets the Kamptal wind. Gneiss, granite and mica schist from the Ladner vineyards and gneiss and loess from the Schenkenbichl provide for finesse, elegance and length with spicy freshness. A noble wine.
Zweigelt Tanzer Reserve 2006
The most northern and chillest plateau lies close to the piny wood. The exposed vineyard "Tanzer" is close to the border of the red wine vineyards and is a special challenge for the winemakers. Big lumps of quartz are in the way when working in the vineyard, these enrich the Zweigelt with complex minerality and length. An extremely long maturation period and working with patience and slowness make this wine a big wine. |
