Jurtschitsch wine estate makes two times gold in Tokyo
and is awarded best Austrian wine


„The typically Austrian spicy and fresh white wine style and above all the Grüne Veltliner at present succeeds on many markets,” says Karl Jurtschitsch with pleasure." Apart from a generally recognizable international trend to this delicately fruity sort of wine, the contentful and terroire-driven wines succeed even at international wine competitions again and again, as on the occasion of the 9th Japan Wine Challenge in June 2006. Members of the Japan Sommelier Association and the Institute of Masters of Wine sat in the jury led by Steven Spurrier, one of the most renowned British wine journalists.

This top-class jury awarded gold to two Grüne Veltliner from our wine estate: The Grüne Veltliner Dechant Alte Rebe 2004 could obviously convince the jury with its fine mineral character caused by its over 47 year-old vines. The Grüne Veltliner Spiegel Reserve 2004 is the most viscous and at the same time the most elegant Veltliner from our estate grown on deep loess …

And as the best Austrian wine …

...the Grüne Veltliner Spiegel Reserve 2004 was honoured with the „JWC Award for best Austrian Wine“.
