Grüner Veltliner Loiserberg Auslese 2007

Wine Description
TAs a result of the high maturity of the grapes, this wine is a fragrance experience with lush and fruity Veltliner relish and great abundance of bouquet; the 'nose' being somewhat smoky and mineral with a nice fruity 'Kamptal' (Kamp-Valley) flavour at the back, compact on the palate with just a smack of Botrytis, much 'terroir' - future potential, mellow

alcohol by vol: 10,5% Vol., acidity: 7,4‰, residual sugar: 122,4g/l

The Loiserberg Location
The Loiserberg is the most westerly elevation towards the Waldviertel and gives the vines a southerly- to south easterly aspect, offering crystalline stony soil as a austere substrate and quite a special microclimate. Although the sunlight exposed terraces are well known as a hotspot, the vines are also continuously wafted with cooler winds from the direction of the rough Waldviertel. This 'mix' of warm earth below and cooler air above is particularly encouraging for the development of the bouquet.

The wine-making
The overripe grapes were picked very selectively by hand at the beginning of November and carried to the pressing house in small crates. After the 'mash' dwell time, the grapes were pressed out and then slowly fermented in a stainless steel vat to maintain the fragrance and bouquet substances as far as possible. After maturing in the 700 year old natural cellar, the wine was bottled in June 2008.

Ageing potential: 2015

Food accompany:
the barely perceptible sweetness goes well with culinary enjoyments such as foie-gras (goose liver), blue cheeses and various semi-sweet desserts.
