    All’s well that harvests well.

What a year! 2016 was full of emotional highs and lows for the winemakers in Kamptal. I can still remember well four freezing, sleepless nights in the spring. So we were even happier when a lot of the secondary buds sprouted again, and green returned to the vineyards.

2016 has been the 10th year of organic cultivation of our vineyards. No two growing seasons are the same, and 2016 has been the most challenging year for us organic vintners yet. With a great deal of effort by our team, a lot of instinctive touch and the right gut decisions, we have also mastered these rainy tricks of the weather. At the end of August we were able to relax for the first time. The September sun also did our disposition some good. Our harvest started on September 13th, and we thought that if it went on that way, it would be as relaxed as in 2015, and in a few weeks everything would be in the cellar.

7 weeks later we were overjoyed that the 2016 harvest had been finished with the Riesling from Heiligenstein. Fog and rain had brought only short chances to catch our breath. We would like to thank our vineyard and cellar teams, who supported and implemented all our "shenanigans" and our often not rationally explicable gut decisions.

It has all paid off. The gambles, the waiting, the selection... a bit of luck came into play too, of course. All the more pleasant then, is the feeling of being able to taste our way through the cellar in peace. All’s well that harvests well. We are looking forward to your feedback on the 2016 vintage:)
