The 2021 vintage
2021 was a particularly diverse year in the vineyards and once again demanded very close cooperation with nature, a lot of experience, sensitivity and intuition. The cool temperatures in spring delayed the budbreak of the vines and led to a late, beautiful flowering. The summer was rich in variation, sometimes sun, sometimes rain, but without heat waves. All this allowed the vines to grow and flourish harmoniously. In the last week of July we held our breath twice when some of our vineyards, north of Langenlois, were hit by hailstorms, which unfortunately caused some damage.
In the second week of September we started harvesting. As changeable as the year had been until then, the weather remained stable during the following seven weeks of harvesting. During the day we enjoyed bright sunshine in the vineyards, while the nights were cool and brought pronounced temperature differences. Only on two days we had to take short breaks due to rain showers. The exceptional autumn weather gave us the opportunity to harvest our parcels with absolute precision. The grapes just looked beautiful, and their ripeness and health conditions were perfect for an exceptional vintage in the Kamptal. With a Riesling Spätlese, harvested in the terraces of the Zöbinger Heiligenstein, and many happy faces, we finished the 2021 vintage at the end of October.
Many thanks to everyone who contributed to this outstanding vintage.
We wish you much pleasure with the new vintage
